How bioMérieux Uses the Meeting Owl for Global Learning and Development

Learning and Development Training Manager Sheila Brown is responsible for managing employee training using bioMérieux’s equipment and technology, and she was responsible for figuring out how to enable training for remote and hybrid attendees.

"Our trainers train our field representatives on how to operate, install and repair our various diagnostic systems," explains Sheila. "We needed a solution that would show a full view of the training room and that would eliminate the need for multiple people to join from their individual laptops to reduce audio feedback."

Before purchasing the Meeting Owl, bioMérieux tried other solutions that simply didn’t meet their needs, including everyone using their own laptops to join the training, and connecting external speakers to the trainer’s laptop to improve audio quality for remote participants. Both of these solutions required a lot of setup and configuration to make them work, and they still didn’t allow trainers to move around the room.

One of Sheila’s colleagues within the organization already had a Meeting Owl, so she tried it out for herself to see if it could be a good solution for her team.

"I plugged the Meeting Owl into my laptop, and it was simple to set up and use. I didn’t need any troubleshooting help, and it worked perfectly."

Unboxing and registration were simple, and she knew it was the right solution for her team’s trainings. After ordering two Meeting Owls for the training rooms, Sheila has heard nothing but positive feedback about the experience during hybrid trainings.

"Whenever there’s a training, I can give the Meeting Owl to whoever is leading it, and know that they won’t have any issues with it, because it’s so intuitive and easy to use. There’s no setup or management required because it’s Plug and Play, and it works seamlessly with whatever video conferencing platform we use."

For Sheila’s team, the 360° Pano view of the room is one of their favorite features.

"The full view of the room is helpful for remote participants to see who’s in the room and who’s speaking so they don’t feel like they’re talking into space."

The face-to-face view of the active speaker is particularly helpful for product demonstrations, so the team plans to use the Presenter Enhance feature going forward for trainings with multiple trainers or in-depth product breakdowns to make it even easier to follow what’s going on in the room.

Sheila explains that the Meeting Owl will be a great option in the future for if team members are traveling or working remotely and need to tune into trainings. "We’ve been very happy with the Meeting Owl, and it’s been a great option for hybrid collaboration whenever we need it."

The Meeting Owl helps globally distributed businesses collaborate when they can’t all be together in-person.
