Groups Recover Together provides people recovering from opioid use disorder with a community of healthcare providers, recovery counselors, and peers to support them along their recovery journey. Each member receives group therapy and personalized addiction treatment.
“Overdose is now the leading cause of death for people under 50,” Groups’ Chief Product Officer Keith Kocho explained. “We’re trying to broaden access to recovery support, and hybrid collaboration technology makes it possible to reach more people, especially those who live in areas with few providers or resources.”
Groups Recover Together has used the Meeting Owl for their group therapy and learning and development training since 2019.
“Connection and communication help with recovery. The power of group therapy is what happens in between people sharing. This is hard to replicate in 1:1 video conferencing, but the Owl Labs experience feels closer to being in person. Counselors and office managers appreciate the AV quality. It feels like you’re all in the same room together.”
Groups Recover Together successfully used their Meeting Owls to transition to remote and hybrid meetings during the COVID-19 pandemic. After seeing the benefits of high-quality virtual group therapy for members who live farther away or prefer to receive care from the safety and comfort of home, the organization has been testing enhancing the experience in certain settings with the 4K front-of-room Owl Bar.
“The Owl Labs ecosystem creates a better experience for members,” Groups’ IT Director Chris Ferguson explained. “Members and our field teams appreciate the design and performance of the technology and how it disappears in the room while in use.”
Chris added that the ease of combining the two products contributes to how seamlessly remote and in-person members can engage in hybrid meetings.
“The ability to pair multiple devices to capture different camera angles was a simple process and led to a more engaging experience,” he said.
