Sandler trains 30,000 people every year. Typically, not every employee can be physically present for the training sessions because employees work remotely or have conflicts in their schedules.
Greg Orth, the Owner and President of Sandler Training in Lancaster, PA, needed to find a way to include those absent employees in the company training. Most stationary webcams are placed in the front of a room, which gives remote participants a fly-on-the-wall experience, rather than a seat-at-the-table experience. Greg knew that those traditional webcams wouldn’t capture the immersive nature of the training experience, so he began looking for a more engaging recording solution.
Greg believed the Meeting Owl would solve the problem. The Meeting Owl’s Auto Focus Mode tracks active speakers so remote viewers can always see who’s speaking, and the conical speaker and microphone array makes sure everyone can always be heard.
By recording the training on Zoom, and using the Meeting Owl as the camera, speaker, and mic, Greg could create a production-like experience for remote viewers. He was happy about the price point and appreciated the Owl’s seamless integration with Zoom. After trying out several alternative cameras, Greg knew that the Owl would be the best solution for his clients.
Now, when Greg and his team deliver in-person training, they record the sessions on their Owl. Most of their training sessions take place in a 20’x20’ room, and their Meeting Owl can capture everyone, no matter how far away they are from the Owl.
Clients expect training sessions to always be hybrid-friendly. Sandler has clients in every industry across the globe, and within each organization, work-life looks completely different. Some companies are in the office five days per week, some have permanently adopted remote work, and others fall into the hybrid work category.
With the Meeting Owl, Greg can now guarantee that every client will receive the same quality of training.
In addition to training sessions, Greg is now using his Meeting Owls for company meetings. He appreciates that remote employees at Sandler can now be fully included in conversations and brainstorms.
Greg also enjoys the flexibility the Meeting Owl app provides. With a quick tap, he can turn off the 360° Pano strip, which isn’t always necessary for the training sessions. When asked about his favorite feature, Greg says Speaker Mode has been most useful. Most of Sandler’s training sessions require that the camera follow one speaker, and having the Meeting Owl locked on one person helps the speaker know that they have the attention of everyone in the room.
