After purchasing the Meeting Owl Pro in early 2019 so team members could attend meetings remotely occasionally, the Meeting Owl Pro and the Meeting HQ became integral to keeping the Verde Capital Management team connected — to their clients and to each other.
When Verde Capital Management began building out their new office space in early 2019, they started exploring video conferencing solutions that would meet their hybrid collaboration needs while being flexible and cost-effective.
They explored permanent in-room video conferencing systems from Lenovo and Logitech that ranged between $5,000-$6,000, but according to Chief Operating Officer Holly Kamm:
"We didn’t want to be stuck with hardware that was installed in our walls if the technology became obsolete.”
The Meeting Owl Pro provided a cost-disruptive solution for all of their new conference rooms to meet their video conferencing needs while still giving them the flexibility they needed.
After Covid-19 hit and employees were able to start working in the new office space, Verde Capital Management’s Meeting Owl Pros — aptly named Hedwig and Houdini — became even more important to keep the team connected and engaged. According to Holly:
“We’ve started using our Meeting Owls in our casual gathering and eating spaces so remote team members can engage in meals or catch up with coworkers on a casual basis outside of just meetings.”
In addition to Hedwig and Houdini, Holly invested in another Meeting Owl Pro — Owlivia — and the new Meeting HQ to outfit one of the office’s most frequently-used conference rooms. The team liked that it was a solution that worked with the Meeting Owl technology they already knew and loved, instead of having to switch to an entirely different system, and that it integrated seamlessly with their Google Calendar and Google Meet software.
The team also likes that the Meeting HQ shares the room’s schedule on the in-room monitor when it’s not in use so team members can easily identify if the room is available for an ad-hoc meeting or phone call.
Currently, Verde Capital Management uses the Meeting HQ multiple times per week, and as advisors continue to return to the office for client meetings, it will be used even more frequently. Holly plans to outfit the office’s remaining seven conference rooms with Meeting Owl Pros and Meeting HQs — just as soon as the team figures out the right names for their new devices.
